Sense Education is looking for a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils in a welcoming and inclusive school in Carlisle. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, caring, and passionate about helping children thrive in their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and build confidence.
- Adapt tasks and activities to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
- Assist teachers with classroom preparation and organisation.
- Encourage social and emotional development, helping children build friendships and independence.
- Provide a positive and engaging learning environment where every child feels supported.
What We’re Looking For:
- Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience.
- Experience working with children in an educational setting is beneficial.
- Experience supporting individuals with SEND is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a nurturing approach to learning.
Location: Carlisle
Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Start Date: Immediate, long-term opportunity
Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do. We undertake checks on all candidates and require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may need to complete a new DBS application. Temporary roles are paid weekly, with rates inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is initially temporary but may become permanent.
