Primary School Teaching Assistant Sense Education

Are you passionate about supporting young learners and making a difference in the classroom? Sense Education is looking to appoint a qualified Primary School Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Workington. This role is ideal for someone with knowledge of SEND who can bring both dedication and compassion to the classroom. A Teaching Assistant qualification or Degree level education is required for this position.

The Primary School Teaching Assistant Role:

1. Assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
2. Provide one-on-one or small group support and interventions for students and encourage them to engage in their learning.
3. Promote a positive and inclusive class environment, encouraging all children to reach their full potential.
4. Work closely with school staff and outside professionals to support students in their education.
5. Contribute to a collaborative, child-centred approach that nurtures individual strengths and needs.

Person Specification:

1. Qualifications: A recognised Teaching Assistant (TA) qualification is required.
2. Experience: Ideally, experience supporting individuals with SEND, either in a school, care or other setting.
3. Skills: Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
4. Attributes: Patient, positive, and committed to helping children grow in confidence and skill.

School and Logistics:

1. Mainstream primary school in the Workington area with a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.
2. Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM Monday to Friday (we may also consider part-time applications for this position).
