Are you a compassionate, patient, and supportive individual with a passion for helping young people thrive? A Primary school in Whitehaven is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team, providing support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Role Overview: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students with diverse needs, both inside and outside the classroom. You will provide personalised support, assisting with academic tasks, promoting positive behaviour, and helping students develop essential life skills. Your role will include working with individuals and small groups, helping students achieve their full potential in a caring and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities: -Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, adapting to their individual learning needs. -Help students engage in lessons and classroom activities, fostering a positive attitude towards learning. -Assist with behaviour management, encouraging students to develop social skills and positive relationships. -Prepare learning resources and visual aids under the guidance of teaching staff. -Build strong, positive relationships with students, offering emotional and practical support. -Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers, helping to tailor learning strategies. -Support students in developing their independence, problem-solving abilities, and confidence. Ideal Candidate Profile: -Compassionate, understanding, and patient with a genuine interest in working with children with SEND. -Experience working in a school or care setting, particularly with students who have special educational needs. -Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage empathetically with students and staff. -Resilient, able to adapt to a variety of situations and respond calmly under pressure. -A team player who works well within a collaborative and supportive environment. Previous experience or a relevant qualification in education or care is desirable, but not essential. Hours: Full-time, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday (part-time applicants considered). If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
