A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a supportive and inspiring school team as a Classroom Disability Support Worker. The school is seeking someone who is proactive, compassionate, and dedicated to helping students with a range of complex needs. The Role As a Classroom Disability Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children with complex needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), communication needs, emotional regulation, and sensory needs. You will work closely alongside a team of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Nurses, providing tailored support to ensure the children have every opportunity to thrive. Your day-to-day duties will include assisting with personal care where necessary, supporting students in both individual and group activities, and helping to manage sensory or emotional challenges. You will also assist with life skills development, promoting independence and supporting students in achieving their full potential. You will have the chance to work within an inclusive environment, where outdoor learning, sensory rooms, soft play areas, and specialist outdoor provisions are integrated into the curriculum to support the children’s development in a holistic way. The Ideal Person The ideal candidate will come from a care, health and social, or childcare background, with relevant qualifications such as teaching assistant certifications, health and social care qualifications, or experience in a similar role. You should have a strong passion for supporting children with additional needs and be proactive in your approach to problem-solving. Key skills and attributes include: Experience working with children with complex needs, particularly those with ASD, sensory processing, and emotional regulation needs. A nurturing, patient, and empathetic attitude. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with therapists and other professionals. Excellent communication skills and a willingness to develop new strategies for supporting the children’s needs. A proactive approach to engaging with students in both classroom and outdoor settings. Understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment. Hours The role is available on both a full-time and part-time basis. Working hours are from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
