Sensata Technologies is a global leader in sensor and control solutions, delivering mission-critical products to the automotive industry. As part of our continued growth in embedded systems and electric mobility, we are expanding our engineering leadership team in Northern Ireland. This role will be based at our Newtownabbey site and will have dotted-line responsibilities to our Pune, India location.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Embedded Software Functional Group Leader to guide the development and execution of Embedded Software for automotive ECUs, with a focus on Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) and Electric Vehicle Charging Controllers (EVCC). Reporting to the Engineering Operations & Process Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring technical capability, process compliance, tool strategy, and professional development across global engineering teams.

General Responsibilities
  • Handles the software systems development function, including the design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools.
  • Supervises the development of software and software tools used for design, infrastructure, and platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, and databases.
  • Supervises the hardware compatibility and/or hardware design.
Experience / Qualifications
  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members.
  • Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation.
  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results.
  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers.
Desirable Qualities
  • Experience with global team coordination and dotted-line leadership.
  • Familiarity with onboarding and professional development frameworks.
  • Development of Systems or Software solutions for Electric Vehicle platforms.
  • Knowledge of secure boot, HSM, and secure diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR configuration tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO26262 Road Vehicles - Functional Safety and/or ISO21434 Road Vehicle – Cybersecurity or similar.
  • Exposure to OEM projects and supplier collaboration.
  • Experience with AI tools in software development and testing.
  • Agile development methodology experience.
  • Experience with JIRA, Jama, Gitlab, Confluence, Stages.
