Sensat is a geospatial AI business that powers advanced and highly functional digital twins for the world's most critical infrastructure projects. We partner with the world's largest construction, engineering and critical infrastructure companies, including National Grid, Network Rail, Heathrow and Severn Trent Water. Our AI-powered digital twins help teams digitally visualise, plan and manage projects, providing Project Confidence Through Clarity.
We are a high trust, high impact team, who offer purpose driven work. We operate with autonomy and flexibility in an agile, flat structure. We look for highly talented, adaptable and curious individuals who love solving meaningful problems and who share our resilient team spirit when facing challenges!
Design is at the heart of making Sensat’s complex geospatial and project data understandable and actionable. As the sole Product Designer, you’ll take end-to-end ownership, collaborating closely with product, engineering, and leadership to turn data, visualisations, planning tools, and workflows into intuitive, usable experiences.
You’ll work on real-world, high-impact problems, not hypothetical scenarios. The product touches mapping, data visualisation, planning tools, geospatial layers, and workflows — it’s complex, meaningful work. You’ll have full ownership over your work, not just a slice of a feature. Decisions are made quickly. Politics is low. The team is small but exceptionally strong. You’ll help define the design practice at Sensat from the ground up.
This is not a “follow the tickets” design role. It’s a thinking role, a shaping role, a systems role. If you enjoy autonomy, tackling tricky challenges, and seeing your work have tangible impact on major infrastructure projects, you’ll thrive here.
What you’ll do:
- Translate complexity into usable experiences. Turn technical workflows, multi-step processes, and data into intuitive designs that help people make better decisions.
- Lead research and discovery. Run interviews, observe behaviours, test prototypes, and get to the heart of what users need.
- Design, prototype, and deliver. Take ideas from sketch to polished UI, iterating rapidly and maintaining the design system as the product grows.
- Be the design voice in the room. Collaborate closely with PMs, engineers, and leadership. Ask the right questions. Push back thoughtfully. Make trade-offs with intent.
What you’ll bring:
- A genuine all-rounder across all facets of the design disciplines.
- Fluency in Figma and rapid prototyping.
- Experience in B2B SaaS, comfortable with data-heavy or workflow-heavy products.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple work streams.
- Thoughtful, inquisitive, and systems-minded.
- Equally happy working independently or solving problems collaboratively.
Bonus points for:
- Familiarity with geospatial or data visualisation tools.
- Previous experience working at a start-up.
- Experience working with enterprise customers.
- Comfort reading and sanity-checking production CSS.
- Working knowledge of Git for reviewing changes and collaborating with engineers.
What we’ll bring:
- Significant equity share options.
- 30 days of annual leave (in addition to bank holidays).
- A flexible working environment.
- ÂŁ500 personal development fund.
- Regular social events.
- Immediate access to mental health support through Spill.
- Enhanced Family Leave for those welcoming a new arrival.
- Opt-in Corporate health and wellbeing cash plan.
- MacBook, mouse & keyboard and ÂŁ250 towards setting up your WFH environment.
- Pension: with Penfold. Employer contribution of 3%, employee contribution set at 5% but can be increased.
- Access to the benefits of our Fora office membership, including access to their gyms and fitness classes.
- Other benefits including cycle to work scheme, season ticket loans, eye-care vouchers, payroll giving.
