Our client, a leading specialist SEN school in Winchester, Hampshire, is seeking a dedicated and experienced full‑time SEN teaching assistant to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the educational and personal development of students with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care and support.

As a full‑time SEN teaching assistant, you will work closely with our client's team of experienced teachers, therapists and support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one‑to‑one and small group support to students with a range of special educational needs, including learning difficulties, physical disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.
  • Assist students with personal care and daily living skills, such as toileting, feeding and dressing.
  • Support the delivery of engaging and enriching educational activities, including lessons, therapies and extracurricular programmes.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other support staff to develop and implement customised learning plans for each student.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and assistive technologies to support the individual needs of students.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and support.
  • Attend team meetings, training sessions and professional development opportunities to continuously enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment for all students.
Qualifications
  • Relevant qualification in education, childcare or a related field, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Creativity, patience and a genuine passion for supporting the personal and educational development of students with special educational needs.
  • Proficiency in the use of assistive technologies and a range of teaching strategies.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and grow in the role.
