A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Camborne is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team. The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they can fully engage with learning and develop confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions to support pupil progress
  • Assisting teachers in adapting lessons and activities to meet individual learning needs
  • Supporting pupils with communication, emotional wellbeing, and social development
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and active participation in school life
  • Helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and independence
  • Following individual support plans and implementing agreed learning strategies
  • Monitoring pupil engagement and reporting observations to teaching staff
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals
  • Supporting pupils during classroom activities, breaktimes, and school events
  • Providing personal care support when required while maintaining dignity and respect
  • Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

Your contribution will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

About You

We are looking for an individual who:

  • Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Education, Childcare, Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a related field
  • Has experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a child-centred approach
  • Has knowledge of SEND practices and positive behaviour support strategies
  • Possesses strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Is adaptable, proactive, and committed to meeting individual pupil needs
  • Understands safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one
