Learning & Behaviour Support Practitioner in Tiverton

Learning & Behaviour Support Practitioner in Tiverton

Tiverton Full-Time On-site
S

Essential: Driver with access to own vehicle

Before some young people can engage with learning, they need to feel safe, understood and supported.

That's why this role is about much more than sitting alongside a pupil in a classroom.

We're recruiting a Learning & Behaviour Support Practitioner to work with children and young people with additional needs in Tiverton.

You'll become part of the consistent support around each pupil - helping them manage challenges, participate in education and gradually develop greater confidence and independence.

Pupils may have autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, learning needs or challenges with emotional regulation.

Depending on the individual, your support could involve:

  • Building a trusting and consistent relationship.

  • Providing structured 1:1 learning support.

  • Helping pupils understand and manage emotions.

  • Recognising triggers and responding appropriately.

  • Supporting communication and social development.

  • Breaking activities into manageable stages.

  • Encouraging pupils to attempt tasks independently.

  • Supporting transitions between activities and environments.

  • Following individual support and education plans.

  • Working collaboratively with teachers and specialist professionals.

You may have worked as a Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Worker, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Care Worker, Residential Support Worker or Learning Support Assistant.

Whatever your background, you'll need patience, emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm and consistent when a young person is struggling.

A full driving licence and your own vehicle are essential for this role.

You'll also need an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.

This is a full-time, term-time position available ASAP, with the opportunity to gain substantial experience supporting additional needs within education.

If you're looking for a role where the relationships you build are every bit as important as the tasks you complete, we'd love to hear from you.
