Luma Education Recruitment is working with a specialist education setting in the Tidworth, Wiltshire area that is looking to appoint a caring, reliable and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant for September 2026. This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys working with children and young people and is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs, autism, SEMH, ADHD and behavioural needs.

You will play an important role within the school's support team, helping pupils engage with learning, develop confidence and overcome individual barriers.

The Opportunity

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils
  • Work closely with teachers to support accessible and engaging learning
  • Help pupils access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities
  • Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills
  • Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils
  • Support classroom routines and maintain a calm, safe learning environment
  • Work alongside teaching, pastoral and specialist staff to meet individual needs
  • Encourage pupils to engage positively with their education and wider school experience

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals
  • Previous experience within SEN, schools, care, youth work or similar settings
  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Confidence and resilience when supporting challenging behaviour
  • A patient, calm and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to adapt to different pupils and situations
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn

Relevant qualifications are welcomed, but attitude, experience and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils are equally important. An Enhanced DBS will be required before commencing the role. Candidates already registered with the DBS Update Service are encouraged to apply.
