We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and well-established SEN School in Swinton. This is a full-time role where you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning and develop socially, emotionally, and academically. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of SEN, including Autism, SEMH, and learning difficulties
- Support pupils in accessing the curriculum through tailored learning approaches
- Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development
- Assist the class teacher with preparing resources and adapting activities to meet individual needs
- Support communication using visual aids, PECS, Now & Next boards, or other structured approaches (where required)
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
- Support with personal care where necessary, promoting dignity and independence
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, and external professionals
- Follow safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times
Requirements
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable
- Calm, patient, and resilient nature
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
