Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join its supportive and nurturing team in Ipswich. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a school community committed to achieving the very best outcomes for its pupils, while developing your own professional skills in a rewarding environment. Redstone Hall School supports up to 30 pupils aged 5-18 with a range of complex needs. The school provides a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment, where every learner is encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support or work with small groups of up to six pupils
- Support the class teacher in delivering effective and engaging lessons
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, working collaboratively with school staff
- Supervise pupils during breaks, extracurricular activities, and school trips
- Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation
- Set and mark work where appropriate
- Build positive, supportive relationships that promote engagement and progress
Qualifications
- Have a strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
- Have experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs
- Are confident in applying behaviour management strategies
- Are proactive, adaptable, and committed to ongoing professional development
- Are willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check
