Job Overview

M&M Supply is recruiting on behalf of a forward‐thinking Multi Academy Trust for a Pastoral Support Manager to join their senior leadership team. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced safeguarding and pastoral professional passionate about supporting children and young people with SEN and SEMH needs. You will take a whole‐family approach, working closely with pupils, parents, and external agencies to improve outcomes, attendance, wellbeing, and engagement in education. The role is hands‐on, multi‐site, requiring flexibility, resilience and the ability to build strong relationships across a wide network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring safeguarding policies are effectively implemented.
  • Manage a safeguarding caseload, including child protection and early help referrals.
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools and external agencies to support pupil development.
  • Lead on pastoral strategies, attendance improvement and pupil wellbeing.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and safeguarding documentation.
  • Lead and contribute to multi‐agency meetings and reviews.
  • Support and supervise pastoral/family support staff.
  • Deliver training and contribute to continuous improvement across the Trust.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience working in education settings (mainstream or SEN schools).
  • Strong background in safeguarding and child protection.
  • Proven experience in behaviour management and pastoral care.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN and/or SEMH needs.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with pupils, families and professionals.
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem‐solving skills.
  • Confident using ICT systems in an education environment.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working with disengaged or vulnerable young people.
  • Knowledge of multi‐agency working and early help processes.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Relevant qualification related to education, safeguarding or pastoral care.
  • Minimum level 2 English and Maths.
  • Additional specialist training.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (business use required).
  • Willingness to travel across multiple sites.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional unsociable hours.
