Sports Coach / SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEN School (Bolton)

Start Date: 4th May 2026

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Pay: £110 per day

Contract: Long-term until the end of the academic year

Are you a passionate Sports Coach or Teaching Assistant with a strong interest in supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are working with a secondary SEN school in Bolton seeking a Sports Coach / SEN TA to support a pupil with Autism (ASC) on a 1:1 basis. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can combine behaviour support strategies with a sporting background, particularly football, to engage and motivate learning.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism
  • Use sport (particularly football) as a tool for engagement and regulation
  • Support the pupil during breakout sessions, often outdoors
  • Help manage behaviour positively using consistent strategies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support EHCP targets
  • Encourage participation, confidence, and emotional regulation

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with SEN, particularly Autism (ASC)
  • A background in sports coaching, youth work, or similar
  • A genuine passion for the outdoors and physical activity
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A proactive, resilient and patient approach
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils
