Our school, a highly regarded primary school in Southend-on-Sea, is seeking a dedicated and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and making a lasting impact on their academic and personal growth.
Responsibilities
- Assisting students with their learning, both in the classroom and during one-on-one or small group sessions
- Implementing and adapting lesson plans and learning activities to meet the specific needs of students with SEN
- Providing emotional and behavioural support to students, helping them to develop coping strategies and build their confidence
- Maintaining detailed records of student progress and communicating effectively with teachers and parents/carers
- Collaborating with the SEN coordinator to develop and review individual education plans (IEPs) for students
- Supporting students with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, and medication administration, as required
- Participating in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN support
Qualifications and experience
- A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or a related field, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in a school or educational setting
- A deep understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by students with SEN, and the strategies and interventions that can support their learning and development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure
- A flexible and adaptable approach, with the willingness to learn and adapt to the changing needs of the students
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing personality, with a genuine passion for supporting and empowering children with special educational needs
In return, our client is offering a competitive salary of £90 - £105 per day, depending on your qualifications and experience.
