Behind every great lesson is a calm, supportive presence helping children feel confident enough to take part. As an SEN Teaching Support Assistant, you'll work alongside teachers to help pupils with additional needs access learning, build confidence, and feel included in the classroom. We're working with a welcoming school in Devon that is looking to add a dedicated SEN Teaching Support Assistant to their team, supporting pupils with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.
This is a hands-on, classroom-based role where you'll:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN
- Support children with EHCPs during lessons and transitions
- Adapt learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher
- Encourage communication, social skills, and emotional regulation
- Monitor progress and behaviour, feeding back to teaching staff
- Help maintain a calm, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Experience required:
- Supporting children with SEN (school, care, or informal settings)
- A patient, calm, and encouraging approach
- A clear communicator who works well as part of a team
- A genuine interest in inclusive education and SEN support
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
