For children with additional needs, feeling included in school can be just as important as academic progress.

A supportive adult who understands their challenges, recognises their strengths and encourages them to participate can make a lasting difference.

We're looking for a SEND Teaching & Inclusion Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Plymouth, supporting children and young people who need additional help to access learning and develop their independence.

Working alongside teachers and specialist staff, you'll:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group learning support.

  • Support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties and learning needs.

  • Help pupils access lessons and adapted learning activities.

  • Encourage positive relationships and social interaction.

  • Support emotional regulation and behaviour strategies.

  • Build pupils' confidence and independence.

  • Assist with transitions, routines and enrichment activities.

  • Follow individual education and support plans.

  • Share observations and contribute to pupil progress reviews.

You may already be working as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Support Worker, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor or Youth Worker.

We're particularly interested in people who have experience supporting children or young people with SEND and understand the importance of patience, consistency and positive relationships.

You'll need to be resilient, adaptable and comfortable working as part of a specialist team.

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is also required.

  • Competitive rates of pay.

  • Long-term opportunities in specialist education.

  • Training and professional development.

  • Support from experienced SEND professionals.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be subject to enhanced DBS checks, satisfactory references and relevant safeguarding procedures.
