A specialist SEND school in Bootle is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This setting supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and speech and communication difficulties. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils with complex needs, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver tailored learning and emotional support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities- Providing 1:1 and small group support, adapting learning to meet individual needs
- Supporting pupils with ASC, SEMH, and communication needs within a structured environment
- Using communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or other AAC methods
- Assisting with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
- Supporting the implementation of EHCPs, behaviour plans, and therapeutic strategies
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff
- A specialist, well‑resourced SEN setting with a strong support network
- A highly experienced and collaborative staff team
- Ongoing CPD and training in areas such as behaviour management and communication strategies
