We're working exclusively with a highly regarded specialist secondary school in Plaistow, and they're looking for a passionate, experienced SEN Teacher to join their team this September. About the Role
This is a full time, long term, term time only position starting September, based in a specialist secondary school in Plaistow dedicated entirely to supporting students with Autism (ASD). You won't be walking into a classroom alone. This role is supported by five dedicated Teaching Assistants, giving you the structure and capacity to truly focus on what matters: enabling your students to access the National Curriculum in a meaningful, tailored way. Responsibilities
- Delivering high-quality, adapted lessons that enable students with Autism to access the National Curriculum
- Working collaboratively with 5 TAs to create an inclusive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
- Developing and implementing EHCPs and individual learning plans tailored to each student
- Building positive, trusting relationships with students across the specialist secondary provision
- Contributing to the wider school community and supporting students' social and emotional development alongside their academic progress
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential; applications cannot be considered without this
- Direct teaching experience within a specialist school or specialist provision - this is a genuine requirement, not a preference
- Proven track record supporting students with Autism (ASD), including those with complex and communication needs
- Experience delivering the National Curriculum in an adapted, accessible format

- Strong behaviour management skills, using calm, consistent, and positive strategies
- Ability to plan and differentiate lessons effectively for a range of learning profiles
- Confident working with EHCPs and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong communication skills with students, parents, TAs, and senior leadership

Safeguarding
This role involves direct, daily contact with children and young people and constitutes regulated activity relevant to children. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold the highest standards of safeguarding at all times, in line with the school's safeguarding policy and statutory guidance. All applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide references that will be verified prior to appointment.
