SEND Learning & Inclusion Assistant

Full-Time On-site

Essential: Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle

For some children and young people, succeeding in education isn't simply about understanding the lesson.

They may need help regulating emotions, managing transitions, communicating what they need or building enough confidence to engage in the first place.

We're looking for a SEND Learning & Inclusion Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Plymouth, supporting pupils who need a more individual approach to learning.

You'll work alongside experienced education and support professionals, helping pupils participate in learning while developing confidence, independence and positive relationships.

No two pupils - or days - will be exactly the same.

You could be:

  • Supporting a pupil 1:1 during learning activities.
  • Helping a young person regulate when they feel overwhelmed.
  • Breaking tasks into smaller, achievable steps.
  • Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs.
  • Encouraging positive social interaction and independence.
  • Helping pupils manage changes, routines and transitions.
  • Supporting learning outside the classroom and within the wider community.
  • Working with teachers and other professionals to monitor progress.

You might already be a Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor or Care Worker.

We're looking for someone who is patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with young people who may have experienced barriers to education.

You must hold a full driving licence and have access to your own vehicle due to the nature and location of the role.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is also required.

This is a full-time, term-time position with an ASAP start, offering the opportunity to build valuable experience within specialist SEND education.

If you're looking for meaningful work where patience, consistency and relationship-building genuinely matter, we'd like to hear from you.
