Our client, a well-respected educational organisation in the heart of Gateshead, Tyne & Wear, is seeking a passionate and experienced SEND Behavioural Support professional to join their dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). As the SEND Behavioural Support, you will be responsible for providing tailored, one-on-one support to students, helping them to overcome any behavioural challenges they may be facing. Working closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals, you will develop and implement effective strategies to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, where each student can thrive.
Your Role Will Involve a Range Of Responsibilities, Including
- Assessing the individual needs of SEND students and creating personalised behaviour support plans
- Implementing evidence-based behaviour management techniques, such as positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies
- Providing one-on-one and small group support to SEND students, helping them to develop self-regulation skills, emotional resilience, and positive social interactions
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a consistent, holistic approach to supporting SEND students
- Maintaining detailed records and documentation to track student progress and inform future interventions
- Participating in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in SEND Behavioural Support
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A relevant degree or qualification in a field such as special education, psychology, or behavioural science
- Extensive experience working with SEND students, particularly in the area of behaviour management
- A deep understanding of SEND and the challenges faced by students with diverse needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- A creative and solution-focused mindset, with the ability to adapt your approach to meet the unique needs of each student
- A genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people
