About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Sheffield. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will be working closely with pupils who may have autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties, providing tailored support to help them engage with learning and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEN
- Assist the class teacher in delivering inclusive and engaging lessons
- Support pupils' emotional, social and academic development
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
- Maintain safeguarding standards at all times
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school or care setting)
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable (but not essential)
- Team Teach or behaviour management training
- Experience with autism, SEMH or complex needs
- Relevant qualifications (CACHE Level 2/3)
