As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to work closely with the teaching staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students with special educational needs. You\’ll assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans, ensuring that each student receives the support and accommodations they require to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs
- Collaborating with teachers to adapt lesson plans and materials to meet the unique needs of each student
- Encouraging student participation and engagement in classroom activities
- Monitoring student progress and providing regular feedback to teachers and parents
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to student support and interventions
- Assisting with the management of student behaviour and promoting a positive classroom environment
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or a related field (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification)
- Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
- Knowledge of various learning disabilities and their impact on educational outcomes
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and adaptive teaching strategies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and educational software
