We are looking to recruit a resilient and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist or mainstream setting in the Chorley area. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them to engage positively with education.

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour, and social interactions
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Build positive, consistent relationships to promote trust and engagement
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to support pupil progress
  • Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or trauma-informed settings
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils and staff
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
