We are working with an inclusive and supportive secondary school in Waltham Forest to recruit a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This is a rewarding role for someone confident supporting young people who require emotional regulation, behaviour guidance, and consistent support to re-engage with learning. The school has a strong pastoral structure and provides excellent support for staff in long-term roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group SEMH support across KS3 and KS4
  • Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement
  • Implement behaviour and support plans in line with school policy
  • Work closely with the SENCo, pastoral team and class teachers
  • Promote positive behaviour, inclusion and resilience
  • Support students during lessons and unstructured times

Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience supporting students with SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • A calm, resilient and consistent approach
  • Confidence working in a secondary school environment
  • Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour strategies
  • Background in SEN support, youth work, mentoring or care (desirable)

  • Waltham Forest, East London
  • Accessible via Walthamstow Central, Leyton, Leytonstone, Chingford
  • Good transport links via Victoria Line, Overground and local buses
  • On-site parking available
