Role: Day-to-day and short-term supply, with potential for longer-term work
Do you have a background in sport and enjoy working with children and young people? Cover People are looking for Sports Coaches to support schools across Salford, with a range of flexible opportunities available.
These vacancies are primarily for day-to-day and short-term cover, making them well suited to coaches looking for flexibility or wanting to gain experience working in schools. Longer-term placements can also become available where schools require ongoing support.
No two school days are necessarily the same. Depending on the setting, you may be asked to:
- Assist with or lead PE lessons
- Run practical sports sessions with pupils
- Take small groups for targeted activities
- Support lunchtime and after-school sporting activities
- Encourage pupils to get involved and try new activities
- Help develop teamwork, confidence and positive behaviour
- Support pupils who may need additional encouragement to participate
- Assist teachers with wider classroom activities when required
You may work with pupils of different ages and abilities, so being adaptable and confident in a school environment is important.
We welcome applications from people with a sporting or coaching background, including:
- Sports Graduates and PE Graduates
- Qualified Sports Coaches
- Football, rugby, cricket, basketball or athletics coaches
- Fitness professionals
- Youth or community sports workers
- Candidates with relevant experience working with children
A formal sports qualification is beneficial but isn't essential where you can demonstrate strong coaching experience and an ability to work effectively with young people.
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, dependable and confident managing groups, with a genuine interest in helping pupils develop both on and off the sports field.
This is a great option for candidates looking for flexible work in schools without the commitment of a permanent role.
You can expect:
- Mainly day-to-day and short-term bookings
- Opportunities across Salford
- The chance to build school-based experience
- Support from your Cover People consultant throughout your assignments
If you have a passion for sport and would like to put your coaching experience to use in schools across Salford, we'd be keen to speak with you.
All pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay where applicable.
Cover People are acting as an employment business on behalf of these schools. Successful applicants will be subject to safeguarding and vetting procedures in line with statutory guidance, including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Cover People is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
