Join Our Team Supporting SEN Schools in AREA! Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and passionate staff to join our team supporting Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools across READING.
Positions
- Teaching Assistants (TA)
- Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA)
Start Date: As soon as vetting is completed.
Contract: Flexible roles—long‑term, short‑term, and permanent opportunities available.
Scope of Work
You will work in specialist SEN settings for children and young people aged 5–18 with additional needs such as:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
- Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
- Speech, Language and Communication needs (SLCN)
- ADHD and associated behavioural needs
- Sensory processing difficulties
Each school provides a nurturing, structured environment where students are supported to thrive academically and personally. Staff collaborate with therapists, behaviour specialists, and families to provide holistic support.

Qualifications & Attributes
- Passionate about supporting children and young people with SEN
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient
- Flexible and able to adapt to different learning and behavioural needs
- For teachers or HLTAs: qualified or unqualified—experience in SEN or education desirable but not essential
- No prior SEN experience? Training and guidance will be provided for those committed and eager to learn.
Requirements
- Appropriate qualifications and training for the role.
- Valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, or willingness to undertake one.
- Full assistance provided for DBS and child protection training.
- All applicants will be required to undergo safeguarding checks in accordance with DfE statutory guidance “Keeping Children Safe in Education.”
