Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a Dance Teacher to support a high-performing secondary school in the Portsmouth area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in dance, choreography, and performance to deliver high-quality lessons and inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

In this role, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging dance lessons that develop students' technique, creativity, and confidence.
  • Prepare resources and organise the studio space.
  • Ensure lessons run safely and smoothly.
  • Contribute to the wider Performing Arts department by supporting showcases, assessments, and extracurricular opportunities where required.
  • Teach both practical and theory-based dance lessons.
  • Monitor student progress and deliver constructive feedback.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety during practical movement sessions.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Complete any necessary planning, marking, and administrative tasks.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and skilled dance practitioner who is confident working with secondary-aged students. You should be organised, creative, and adaptable, with strong communication and classroom management abilities. Experience in a school environment or a background in dance education, performing arts, or choreography is highly desirable. ECTs and experienced teachers are welcome to apply, and full support will be provided.

You will receive competitive weekly pay and a pension scheme. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
