We're recruiting a SEND Career Development Assistant for a specialist setting in Plymouth, supporting pupils with needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.

You'll gain practical experience while working alongside teachers and specialist professionals, developing skills that could support future careers in teaching, SEND, pastoral support, psychology, therapy, behaviour support or wider education.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll support young people academically, socially and emotionally throughout their school day.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support.
  • Helping pupils access lessons and learning activities.
  • Supporting children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs.
  • Building positive and consistent relationships.
  • Encouraging confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Helping develop communication and social skills.
  • Following individual learning and support strategies.
  • Working alongside teachers and specialist professionals.
  • Supporting pupils during lessons, breaks and wider school activities.

Who Are We Looking For?

Previous school experience is helpful but isn't the only route into this position.

You may have experience from care, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, residential support or another role involving children or vulnerable people.

We're looking for someone who is patient, resilient, reliable and genuinely interested in developing their skills.

You’ll also need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is required.
