The predicted salary is between 13 - 14 £ per hour.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist provision supporting children and young people aged 7-19 with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and associated social and communication needs. The setting provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment, offering education from Key Stage 2 through to post-16. The focus is on helping every student explore and achieve their individual potential at each stage of their educational journey.

Key responsibilities

  • Build warm, caring and supportive relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, confident and ready to learn.
  • Promote independence and personal development while maintaining high expectations of behaviour.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality, engaging and differentiated learning activities across a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Work closely with the Class Teacher to support the day-to-day running of the classroom.
  • Adapt flexibly to the changing needs of the setting to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Support pupils' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical and spiritual development.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Complete required documentation accurately, including records relating to incidents, health and behaviour, under the guidance of senior staff.

Skills and qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English at Level 2 / Grade C or above (essential).
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
  • Knowledge of, or experience working with, pupils with special educational needs.
  • A strong commitment to putting the child first and treating every pupil as an individual.
  • A positive, creative approach to meeting pupils' needs.
  • Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent (desirable).
  • At least one year's experience working as a Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistant or equivalent (desirable).
