We are seeking an Outreach Teacher to work with Upper Primary and KS3 pupils who need personalised, flexible education. About the Role – Outreach Teacher Gillingham, Dorset
As an Outreach Teacher, you will work with children in alternative education and outreach settings across Gillingham and the wider Dorset area. Many of these pupils have faced barriers in mainstream education, and your ability to think outside the box, adapt your teaching, and inspire curiosity will make a life-changing difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons for Upper Primary and KS3 students across Maths, English, and core subjects
- Inspire pupils to enjoy learning while working towards Level 2 outcomes in Maths and English
- Provide 1:1 and small group tuition in flexible community-based and outreach settings
- Build strong, positive relationships with learners, families, and professionals involved
- Monitor, record, and report on progress to celebrate success and identify next steps
Requirements for Outreach Teacher Role
- Proven teaching experience, ideally with learners who have additional needs such as dyslexia, ADHD, or SEMH needs
- The ability to motivate and re-engage children who may lack confidence in education
- Creativity, resilience, and a flexible approach to teaching
- Strong knowledge of Upper Primary and KS3 curriculum
- QTS/QTLS is desirable, but experienced unqualified teachers with relevant skills are welcome to apply
