Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Pastoral Officer to support pupils with SEMH in one of our inspirational Alternative Provisions in Newcastle to start ASAP on a full-time Temp to Perm basis. About the School
The role is based in an inspirational Alternative Provision in Newcastle. The School supports pupils aged 11-18 with varying levels of SEMH who have been temporarily excluded from mainstream School. The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work as a Team within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils.
Pay, Hours and Contract
- Pay - Between £95-110 per day
- Hours - Full-time
- Contract - Temporary to Permanent Contract
- Start Date - ASAP
- Location - Newcastle
About the Role
In this role you will be supporting the operational leadership of the pastoral system across the academy with the aim of raising the aspirations/self‑esteem and attendance of students as well as supporting the development of enrichment activities which contribute to students' emotional and academic development. You will also liaise with staff, parents, other education institutions and multi‑agency partners to support students' progress and overall development.
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements
- A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
- Experience of working with children with SEMH and challenging behaviour
- An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
- Experience within a PRU and Alternative Provision setting
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide two professional references that cover the last two years
