The CatchUp Academy provides 1:1 in-person tuition and re-engagement support for children and young people who are unable to attend mainstream school. We work as an Approved Alternative Provision and Specialist Tuition Partner for Nottinghamshire, receiving ongoing referrals for pupils who need personalised support. Children may be out of school due to:
- SEN including ASC, ADHD, Dyslexia, DLD
- SEMH needs, including anxiety, trauma, or school-based avoidance
- Medical needs affecting attendance or stamina
- Being in care or transitioning between placements
- Long periods of non-attendance / school refusal
What You Will Do
- Deliver 1:1, in-person tuition (no online) during school hours
- Teach core subjects (English and Maths required; Science desirable)
- Adapt and scaffold learning to meet the young person’s starting point
- Use a calm, relational and patient approach to re-engage learners
- Support emotional safety, routine-building and self-belief
- Communicate with schools, parent/carers and multi-agency teams
- Record simple session notes and small-step progress
Hours & Flexibility
6-30 hours per week, depending on how many students you choose to take on. Sessions run Monday-Friday between 9:00am-3:00pm. You choose your workload – work can scale up or down to suit your life.

Who We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND or SEMH needs
- Good understanding of core subjects at KS2/KS3/KS4 (depending on your strengths)
- Ability to build trust first and go at the pupil’s pace
- Calm, patient and relationship-focused approach
- Confident working independently in home or community-based settings
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
