Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Ashton-under-Lyne
Pay: £110+ per day
Hours: Monday-Friday
Start: ASAP
Contract: Long-term
We are looking for an experienced and engaging Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Ashton-under-Lyne.
The successful candidate will need to understand that children in Early Years develop at different rates and be able to adapt activities and communication to suit individual needs.
You will work alongside the class teacher and Early Years team, supporting children through play, structured activities and everyday classroom routines.
This Could Include
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Supporting communication and language development
- Encouraging interaction and cooperative play
- Supporting sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing
- Helping children with transitions and routines
- Encouraging independence and self-help skills
- Adapting activities to make learning accessible
- Supporting positive behaviour
- Helping children work towards individual targets
- Supporting personal care where required
A key part of the role will be getting down to the children's level, engaging them through play and building trusting relationships.
You Will Ideally Have
- Early Years, Nursery, Reception or SEN experience
- A patient and nurturing approach
- Good communication skills
- The ability to build relationships quickly
- Confidence supporting children with additional needs
- A proactive approach and willingness to get involved
- The ability to remain calm and consistent
- A genuine interest in children's development
Childcare professionals, Nursery Practitioners, Teaching Assistants and Support Workers with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
- Previous experience working with children
- SEN or Early Years experience is desirable
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
- Two suitable references
