Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (SEMH Focus)
Location: Gorton, Manchester
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Key Stage: Year 2
Start: ASAP (or negotiable)
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support tailored to emotional and behavioural needs
- Support regulation, engagement, and positive relationships
- Follow behaviour, crisis, and risk management plans
- Adapt activities creatively to meet the child\\\'s needs
- Work closely with the class teacher (ECT), SENCO, and KS1 team
- Maintain a calm, nurturing, and consistent approach
The Ideal Candidate
- Have strong behaviour management skills and an understanding of SEMH
- Be aligned with nurture-based, relational approaches
- Use initiative in the classroom while knowing when to seek support
- Have good awareness of risk and safety
- Enjoy working as part of a supportive team
- Be patient, reflective, and emotionally resilient
Essential & Desirable Criteria
Essential:
- Minimum CACHE Level 2 in Childcare (or equivalent)
Desirable:
- Experience working with children with SEND, particularly SEMH, ADHD, or PDA
