Long Term Futures is recruiting a Specialist Teaching Learning Assistant to join a small, specialist SEMH school in the LE8 area. The school supports pupils who have found mainstream education challenging, offering a highly structured and nurturing environment with very small class sizes and excellent staffâtoâpupil ratios. Pupils follow a blended curriculum that combines academic learning with outdoor activities and therapeutic or wellbeingâfocused sessions. The school's approach is calm, consistent and relationshipâled, with a strong emphasis on clear routines and personalised support.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing 1:1 and smallâgroup support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Supporting emotional regulation, routines and positive behaviour strategies
- Assisting learning across classroomâbased, outdoor and practical activities
- Building consistent, trusting relationships with pupils
- Following individual support plans and contributing to progress tracking
- Encouraging confidence, resilience, independence and engagement
What We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people (education, care, youth work, mentoring, coaching or similar)
- Confidence managing behaviour in a calm, supportive and consistent manner
- A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
- Applicants from sports coaching or mentoring backgrounds are strongly encouraged
- Candidates must be fully compliant, including a DBS on the update system and two professional references
