Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced and supportive English & Maths GCSE Tutor to provide 1:1 and small-group tuition to secondary-aged students (KS3/KS4) across Bexley.

This role involves supporting students working towards GCSE English and Maths, helping them build subject knowledge, confidence, and effective exam techniques. The successful tutor will take a student-centred and structured approach, tailoring sessions to individual learning needs and working collaboratively with families and schools to support academic progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, personalised tuition in GCSE English and Maths
  • Support students with exam preparation, revision strategies, and coursework
  • Identify learning gaps and adapt teaching methods to support progress
  • Build students' confidence, motivation, and independent learning skills
  • Track progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents/carers
  • Prepare students for mock exams and final GCSE assessments
Requirements
  • Experience tutoring English and/or Maths at GCSE level
  • Strong knowledge of the KS3/KS4 curriculum and GCSE exam boards
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with young people
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
Desirable
  • Teaching or tutoring qualification (e.g. QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting students with exam anxiety or low confidence
  • Background in tutoring, schools, or alternative education settings
