About the Role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Tutor to join our team starting in January 2026. This role focuses on supporting students with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, and those working below expected levels. Our tutors make a vital difference in bridging learning gaps, offering tailored 1:1 lessons in GCSE Maths and English. We understand that every learner's journey is unique, which is why we offer flexible hours to fit your schedule, giving you the opportunity to make a genuine, lasting impact on students' lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored GCSE Maths and English lessons on a 1:1 basis to students with SEN.
  • Adapt lesson content and pacing to support students' emotional regulation and varied learning styles.
  • Support students in building subject knowledge, improving study skills, and boosting exam confidence.
  • Develop a trusting, consistent rapport with students to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to parents/carers or relevant professionals.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring Maths or English.
  • Experience working with SEN learners in a 1:1 or small group setting.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check.

Desirable Qualifications

  • PGCE in Secondary Education and/or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience working with students with Autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
