Prospero Teaching is currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Outreach Tutor to start in January 2026. The role involves delivering bespoke education packages on a 1:1 basis for young people with complex needs who are currently unable to attend school.

Responsibilities

  • Creating, planning, and delivering highly personalised lessons, focusing on building confidence and engagement in core subjects such as English and Maths.
  • Working with students who may have significant additional needs and might be fully reliant on adult care, including the use of wheelchairs.
  • Helping to reintroduce structure and routine into the students' day, supporting both academic development and life skills.
  • Monitoring progress and providing ongoing support to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for each student.

Contract Details

  • Location: Community-based or within pupils' homes in Liverpool and St Helens
  • Position: Outreach Tutor (Complex Needs)
  • Full-time/Part-time: Part-time, 15 - 25 hours per week
  • Maximum Rate of Pay: £25 - £30 per hour
  • Hours: 1 - 3 hours per session

Qualifications

  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS, or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months of experience working in a UK school or with SEN learners
  • Experience with Makaton and/or PECS (highly desirable)
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential)

Eligibility

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Have an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service (or be willing to process a new application)
  • Provide two professional child-related references from the last two years
