Duties as Level 2 SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils with complex needs, including Autism, SLD, and Speech and Language challenges
  • Work within mixed‑age KS1 and KS2 groups organised by cognitive ability
  • Assist with daily routines, personalised strategies, and sensory support
  • Contribute to pupil observations, progress notes, and written reports
  • Reinforce learning tasks through repetition, structured modelling, and scaffolded support
  • Deliver small‑group and 1:1 activities under the direction of teaching staff
  • Build calm, trusting relationships to support engagement and emotional regulation
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, speech and language teams, and wider SEND staff
  • Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil well‑being

Ideal Level 2 SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • At least Level 2 TA qualification; Level 3 welcome but experience is key
  • Minimum two years of experience supporting SEND pupils
