About Our School

Ormston School offers a safe and supportive environment for young people with special educational needs and disabilities aged between 5 and 18 years old. With significant investment and new resources, the successful applicant will help shape the school into a place that promotes self-discipline, engagement and learning. Role Responsibilities

  • Support the improvement of wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience and behaviour management within Ormston School.
  • Work with education team members to support young people's personal and academic development by removing barriers to learning.
  • Promote positive learning behaviour with young people.
  • Lead classes during PPA and absence cover.
  • Deliver enrichment activities.
  • Support lessons with academic understanding or pastoral, emotional or behavioural need.
  • Respond to immediate concerns clarifying situations.
  • Create and collate information relating to lessons and interventions delivered.
  • Assist in the preparation of information relevant to meetings about pupils.
  • Advocate for the ethos of Ormston School.
  • Lead interventions that include reading and phonics, reviewing progress made by young people.
  • Develop the role of Pupil Voice, liaising with SLT about the Pupil Council.
  • Build relationships with parents/carers, actively participating in transitions and consultation visits.
  • Lead ELSA sessions and complete training with the local authority.

Requirements

  • Strong basic education, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., HLTA, Cover Supervisor).
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH/Autism in an educational setting.
  • Experience with behaviour management and techniques.
  • Committed to professional development and willing to learn.
  • Willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencement.
