We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Leeds, starting January 2026. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity within a supportive setting that caters to a range of special educational needs and age groups. Experience supporting pupils with Autism and SEMH would be highly beneficial.

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Start Date: 19 January 2026
  • Contract: Full-time, long-term (term time only)
  • Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
  • Pay Rate: £95 - £115 per day

Responsibilities

  • Providing tailored classroom support to help pupils engage and progress
  • Working closely with the class teacher to prepare and adapt learning resources
  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs through flexible and inclusive approaches
  • Collaborating effectively with teaching staff, external professionals, and parents/carers
  • Creating a calm, positive, and nurturing learning environment

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly Autism and SEMH, is desirable
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate with the Child Barred List, registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
  • Be able to provide two professional, child-related references
