We are recruiting on behalf of an exciting brand-new specialist school opening in Autumn 2026. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something truly transformative from the ground up. The school will provide a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious environment for children and young people aged 5‑19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With capacity for up to 96 students, the focus is on creating a safe, enriching and aspirational setting where every learner can thrive.

Reporting to the School Business Manager, you will take the lead on maintaining the buildings and grounds to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out planned maintenance and reactive repairs
  • Ensuring full health & safety compliance across the site
  • Conducting regular inspections
  • Managing external contractors and service providers
  • Keeping accurate records of all maintenance activities
  • Responding promptly to emergencies and urgent issues
  • Supporting a safe, secure and welcoming environment for pupils and staff
Qualifications and Experience
  • General maintenance skills (including basic joinery & plumbing)
  • Knowledge of hot and cold water systems and trade practices
  • Understanding of current health & safety regulations
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility for occasional emergency call‑outs
  • Experience in an educational setting is desirable, but not essential

All successful applicants will be subject to pre‑employment safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check. The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and applicants will be required to disclose relevant convictions. The organisation is committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and equal opportunities. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
