Our client, a reputable educational institution in Newton Abbot, Devon, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part‑time Higher Level Teaching Assistant Cover Supervisor to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional support to teachers and students, ensuring the smooth operation of the classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Delivering engaging lessons and activities in the absence of the regular teacher
• Maintaining a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere
• Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback
• Collaborating with teaching staff to develop and implement individualised learning plans
• Supervising students during breaks and extracurricular activities

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant teaching assistant qualification, along with prior experience in a similar role. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to adapt to various teaching styles and subject areas.

Essential qualifications and experience

• Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification or equivalent
• Proven experience as a teaching assistant or cover supervisor
• Proficiency in various teaching methods and strategies
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

Desirable

• First Aid certification
• Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
• Knowledge of relevant educational software and technology
