SEND Activities & Engagement Coordinator
SEND Activities & Engagement Coordinator
Hours: Up to 25 hours per week | Flexible weekday hours + Saturdays during term time
Contract: Part Time | Permanent
Help Create the Activities Children Look Forward To
There's a lot that happens before a brilliant activity session begins. Someone has found the right activity, booked the coach, spoken to the families, organised the volunteers, made sure everyone knows where they need to be.
When Saturday arrives, they're there to make sure it all comes together.
F6IT is looking for an organised, enthusiastic and people-focused SEND Activities & Engagement Coordinator to help plan and deliver inclusive recreational activities for disabled children and young people across Surrey and the surrounding counties.
This is a varied role combining activity coordination, administration, communication and hands-on session delivery - ideal for someone who enjoys working with children but is equally comfortable organising things behind the scenes.
About F6IT
F6IT (pronounced fit) is a growing Surrey-based charity creating inclusive recreational opportunities for disabled children and young people.
Our activities give children opportunities to have fun, develop confidence, build independence and make friendships within safe and welcoming environments.
For families, they provide something equally valuable - the chance to be part of a community where their child is understood, included and encouraged to participate.
You'll play an important part in making all of that happen.
A Role With Two Sides
During term time, around 7-8 hours each Saturday will be spent helping lead and coordinate F6IT's activity sessions.
The remainder of your hours are much more flexible and focus on everything required to make those sessions successful.
You'll work closely with the CEO to:
- Plan and coordinate upcoming activities and events
- Book activities, coaches and external suppliers
- Liaise with participants, parents and families
- Coordinate and support activity volunteers
- Maintain clear information about upcoming sessions
- Complete activity administration and records
- Provide information and updates to F6IT's Communications Team for social media content
- Work with the Fundraising Team to provide activity information for funding applications and funder reports
- Help ensure activities are organised, appropriately resourced and ready to run
You'll then see that planning come to life when you're on site.
When You're Leading Activities
You'll be one of the key people ensuring sessions are safe, welcoming, organised and enjoyable.
That will include:
- Welcoming children, young people and their families
- Coordinating coaches, activity providers and volunteers
- Supporting children and young people to participate
- Acting as a designated lead for safeguarding, first aid and manual handling during sessions
- Ensuring risk assessments and operational procedures are followed
- Monitoring participant wellbeing
- Completing registers and session information
- Recording and escalating incidents or safeguarding concerns appropriately
- Helping create an environment where every child feels included
Hours That Offer Genuine Flexibility
The role is available for up to 25 hours per week. During term time, you'll need to be available for approximately 7-8 hours on Saturdays when activities take place.
The remaining hours can be worked very flexibly around the planning and administration required.
Saturday sessions only operate during term time, so school holiday hours can be worked flexibly during the week instead.
That could make this an excellent opportunity for someone looking for meaningful part-time work that can fit around other commitments.
Who Could This Suit?
You don't necessarily need to come from a charity or activities background and instead, your experience might be in:
- SEND or education
- Teaching or learning support
- Youth work
- Children's services
- Family support
- Community programmes
- Sports or activity provision
- Care or support work
You might be a Teaching Assistant ready for something with more responsibility, an experienced SEND professional looking for a flexible part-time position, or someone with strong organisational skills who still wants regular contact with children and families.
What matters is that you're organised, dependable and confident communicating with different people, while understanding the importance of creating safe and inclusive opportunities for disabled children and young people.
Experience coordinating activities, volunteers or small teams would be particularly valuable.

More Than Delivering Activities
The difference with this role is that you won't simply turn up and run what's already been organised. You'll help make it happen. From the first conversation with a coach or family through to seeing a child enjoying the finished activity, you'll be involved throughout.
If you're looking for a flexible part-time position that combines SEND, organisation, communication and hands-on work with children and families, we'd love to hear from you.
