Year 6 Special Needs Teaching Assistant (Autism) – Harrow

Location: Harrow. Start date: ASAP 2026. Salary: £90-£105 per day (PAYE). Job type: Full time, long term. Working hours: Monday – Friday (no weekends).

Responsibilities

  • Support a Year 6 student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who has challenging behaviour.
  • Assist with lesson delivery and classroom management, helping the student to engage in learning activities.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies in line with the school’s SEN plan.
  • Maintain accurate records and support the SENCO and teachers in monitoring the student’s progress.

Requirements

  • Experience working with students with special needs OR graduation from a relevant degree (Psychology, Health and Social Care, Speech and Language).
  • Patience, empathy and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Initiative and a drive to help students succeed.
  • Ability to focus on tasks and work independently within a team.
  • Right to work in the UK and experience working in the UK.
  • Valid DBS check (Enhanced) and willingness to undergo safeguarding training.
