The predicted salary is between 25 - 25 £ per hour.

We are looking for compassionate and adaptable Functional Skills Tutors to work with children and young people who are not accessing full‑time education for a variety of reasons. Many of these learners may have been out of school for an extended period and may face emotional or motivational barriers to learning. You will be supported by Prosperos experienced team who will help monitor student progress and provide guidance throughout the placement. You will provide engaging one‑to‑one or small group tuition designed to re‑build confidence, close knowledge gaps, and support each student's individual learning journey. Sessions will take place face‑to‑face in community settings, schools/alternative provisions or within the young person's home.

  • Type: Part‑time (10-15 hours per week)
  • Sessions: Typically 1 to 3 hours per student
  • Duration: Ongoing, based on student needs
  • Start: January 2026

Requirements

  • Teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent)
  • Minimum 6 months experience teaching or tutoring in UK schools
  • Experience delivering Functional Skills (English and/or Maths)
  • A child workforce enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Two recent, relevant references
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable

  • Up‑to‑date Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete one via Prospero)
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH, SEND or those excluded from school
