Setting: SEN High School (students working at KS1 developmental levels)

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with PMLD and ASD in a specialist SEN high school in the BL2 area. This is a long-term, full-time role with an immediate start, supporting students who are of secondary age but working at KS1 ability levels. Due to the urgency of this booking, candidates must hold an enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service.

Role:

  • Supporting pupils with PMLD and Autism across the classroom and in small groups
  • Delivering targeted support tailored to individual EHCPs
  • Supporting learning, communication, sensory regulation and emotional needs
  • Assisting with personal care, mobility and daily routines where required
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and wider SEN teams
  • Using initiative and a proactive approach to adapt support throughout the day
  • Helping to create a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have proven experience supporting PMLD and ASD
  • Be confident working with complex and multiple needs
  • Be proactive, adaptable and able to use their own initiative
  • Have experience in SEN schools or specialist provisions
  • Hold an enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service
  • Be reliable, compassionate and committed to SEN education

This role is ideal for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who is confident in a specialist setting and able to start quickly. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS (child and adult workforce), satisfactory references, and full compliance with KCSIE (2024) guidance and safer recruitment standards. Overseas police checks may be required where applicable.
