You’ll be supporting schools in Exeter and the surrounding areas, working with pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one‑to‑one and small group support for pupils with SEND
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
- Support pupils with personal care needs where required
- Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment
- Monitor and record pupil progress and communicate effectively with staff and parents
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND in a primary school setting
- Knowledge of strategies for supporting children with a range of needs (autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties)
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development
