We are seeking a compassionate, patient and engaging 1:1 Tutor to support a Reception-aged pupil within a school setting in Dorking (RH5). The pupil presents with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), with potential diagnoses of ASD and ADHD. This role requires a nurturing, play-based approach to learning, with a strong focus on building trust, engagement and communication skills. Personal care is required as part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 sessions through play-based learning
  • Support early development of communication and interaction skills
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship to support engagement
  • Use creative and sensory-based approaches to learning
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Assist with personal care where required
  • Work closely with school staff, SENCOs and external professionals
  • Monitor and report on progress against individual targets

Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with Early Years or Reception-aged children
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH, SLCN and/or ASD/ADHD
  • A strong understanding of learning through play
  • A nurturing, calm and patient approach
  • Confidence supporting personal care needs
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed or relational practice (desirable)
  • Relevant experience or qualifications (SEN, EYFS, Psychology, SALT, Youth Work etc. - desirable but not essential)
